GEMS/SciGirls - Spring Session

Calling all fourth, fifth, and sixth grade girls! Do you like exploring the world around you and showing off your creativity? GEMS this spring is participating in a special program called SciGirls. We have a grant that gives us all the materials for the girls to utilize their creativity to perform a variety of experiments. We will cover topics such as electricity, technology, biology, and engineering.

The program will take place at the Chicken Coop Studio 306 in the Crawford Center in Emlenton. The program is free but limited to the first 16 participants who sign up. The program runs on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30. It is an eight week long program with a culminating Family Fun Night on June 8th.

Please make sure to include a return email address in your registration. We will contact you to let you know if your child qualified to be in our program.

Craft Night at the Coop

Get out of the house and join us at the Coop!

This will be a very informal craft night. You are invited to join us for snacks, coffee and conversation with friends. Supplies will be provided to create Valentine's Day wine bottle decorations at your leisure during the evening. Get a group of friends together and join the fun!

WORKSHOP - Slime Time

Your kids will love this super-fun and slightly messy slime-making adventure. Join us as we mix up some fun and make galaxy slime! Each student will get to make their own slime in two fun colors and super-cute slime holders.

Along with photography she enjoys gardening, crafting, and canoeing all of which inspire her photography.

Materials Included: All materials will be provided. This includes Super Secret Slime Ingredients, containers, google eyes, and pipe cleaners.

What to Bring: Childrens aprons are available to use in the Coop, but adults may want to bring their own apron or crafting clothes.

WORKSHOP - Rustic Spring Sign

Project Description: Using a pre-printed vinyl stencil, students will paint a mason jar on a rustic wooden sign. They will choose ten silk flowers to decorate the sign.

This competition is open to photographers of all skill levels and ages. Photos and entry fee must be received by deadline. Photos must be AT LEAST 1800x2400 pixels (300ppi). Winner will be chosen by a panel of judges. All photos will be printed and displayed at this year's Summer Festival.* Printed photos can be picked up after the parade on Saturday. The winner will be revealed Saturday of the festival and showcased in the display.

*Submitted photos MUST meet size requirements to qualify.

This holiday season, support businesses, artisans and crafters in our communities by shopping local for your Christmas gifts and decor. Come out to the Crawford Center on Small Business Saturday for a variety of handcrafted items. We are gathering vendors with a variety of HANDMADE ONLY items from bath and beauty products to decorations to sweets and treats.
